AI Image Generation Failed? Troubleshooting Gemini & Nano Banana

Banana Bro September 27, 2025 approx. 5 minutes

Start with the exact error message and the service you are using. An error in Gemini Apps, a Gemini API response and a failed Banana Nano task can have different causes. Keep a copy of your prompt before changing settings.

Quick troubleshooting table

What you see Where to check What to do next
Sign-in required Banana Nano Sign in and return to the generator. Your text draft is saved; reselect reference images after a redirect or refresh.
Insufficient credits Banana Nano Compare your balance with the displayed model and image-count cost. Reduce the count, select an available lower-cost model, or review credit packs in your account.
Premium model locked Banana Nano Select an available model. Premium models unlock after the first purchase.
Human verification required Banana Nano Complete the verification shown in the generator. If it expires, refresh and complete it again.
Too many requests or active generations Banana Nano Wait for current tasks to finish. Avoid repeatedly pressing Generate. A request-limit response tells you when to retry.
Image upload rejected Banana Nano Use JPEG, PNG or WebP. Each reference image must be 8 MB or smaller; a request supports up to four reference images.
Prompt too long Banana Nano Shorten the text until the editor warning clears. User-entered prompts allow up to 1,500 characters; added style instructions also count toward the final request limit.
Content blocked Any service Read the platform’s explanation and revise the request to meet its content rules. Repeating a blocked request does not fix it.
Task failed or service unavailable Banana Nano Check the task status and credit history before submitting another request. If it persists, contact support with the task ID and time.

These upload and prompt limits describe this website, not every Gemini interface or model. The generator’s current messages take precedence if the service changes.

If you are using Gemini Apps

Confirm that image generation is available for your account and the selected experience. Availability and usage limits can differ by account. Follow the instructions in the error message and the Gemini Apps image-generation help.

Try a short, explicit request such as “Create an image of a blue ceramic cup on a wooden table.” If that works, add your original instructions one part at a time. A fresh conversation can help isolate whether the previous context affects the request; it does not reset an account quota or guarantee a fix.

If you are calling the Gemini API

Read the HTTP status and error body before retrying. Check the chosen model, request format and account permissions. For transient rate-limit or service errors, use bounded retries with increasing delays. Invalid requests and permission errors need a configuration change rather than repeated retries. See Google’s Gemini API troubleshooting guide.

If a Banana Nano task is still processing

The generator submits an asynchronous task. A pending result is different from a failed result. Signed-in users can return to the generator to restore active tasks or check their generation history. Avoid creating duplicate jobs while the first one is still running.

If a task fails, inspect its message and whether a refund is shown. Confirm the balance in your account instead of assuming that every error has the same billing outcome.

Isolate a reference-image problem

  1. Open the file locally and confirm that it is not damaged.
  2. Export a fresh JPEG, PNG or WebP within this site’s file-size limit.
  3. Try one reference image and a short prompt before adding more images.
  4. After signing in or refreshing, reselect the file. Text drafts are restored, but browser-selected files are not.

There is no universal “under 2048 pixels” fix. Follow the limits of the service you are actually using.

When to contact support

If a short request with a valid image keeps failing, note the service, exact error, model, time and task ID. Describe whether the failure happened before submission or after a task appeared. Do not include passwords, API keys or private reference photos in a public report. Use the contact page for help with this website.
